THE UNIVERSE CASANERA
A veritable protected land between sea and mountains, the Ile de Beauté offers a flora with rich dermatological virtues. The Casanera Made in Maquis brand captures the nectar of this flora in organic cosmetics and exceptional fragrances.
BEAUTY, A FAMILY SECRET
PHILOSOPHY CASANERA
Marie Ceccaldi has lived in close contact with the plants of her native Balagne ever since she was a child. Myrtle, immortelle, lentisque, juniper, the flora of the maquis holds no secrets for her.
A lifelong inspiration, in fact, as Marie has inherited her beauty secrets from a long family tradition. "I've inherited a precious herbarium created over three generations by a great-grandmother who was a healer and a mother who pioneered fresh cosmetics in the 1970s
These uncompromising family convictions against synthetic products will never leave her... " When I was little, I used to pick herbs and roots for my grandmother's decoctions and macerates. She used Corsican plants to treat everything from kidney stones to burns, and chose the days she picked according to the lunar cycle"
For Marie, beauty is a family affair... So what could be more obvious than to launch her own line of organic skincare products using plants from the maquis in 2011? In the purest fidelity to artisanal production, of course.
MADE IN MAQUIS
OUR EXPERTISE
"All our wild plants are hand-picked in the morning and distilled on site using ancestral know-how within hours, so as not to lose a drop of their precious active ingredients. Our emulsions are whipped up like whipped cream, and our jars are filled by hand.
As soon as we became Relais & Châteaux, we were approached by the biggest brands, but it seemed inconceivable to me to select industrial labels when our region offered us magnificent essential oils." Customers are literally infatuated with these precious active ingredients and clamor for her cosmetic treasures. Marie let herself be convinced. This was the birth of the first Casanera made in maquis boutique in Calvi. Passion and a meeting with Patrick Paquet, a Corsican perfumer who works exclusively with essential oils, did the rest: eaux de parfums, home fragrances, hand-poured candles made from 100% vegetable waxes and diffusers with local scents were all born.
