The sea urchin is a widespread species in the Mediterranean. It populates the shores of the Isle of Beauty and is considered by its inhabitants to be a veritable treasure of the seabed. Sea urchins are prized not only for fishing, but also for their ecological role. Its presence is an indicator of the health of marine waters, and its role in the balance of ecosystems is essential. For Maria, the sea urchin evokes many childhood memories, particularly the month of March, when she and her family would go sea urchin fishing on the rocks of the island. She drew inspiration from these memories to create her collection of sea urchin rings, which can be worn as an accumulation, creating an incredible visual signature.

MARIA BATTAGLIA's vision

The MARIA BATTAGLIA brand draws its inspiration from its Corsican origins. Her creations are an ode to the Mediterranean island, its thriving nature and its mystique.

« A collection inspired by Corsica.»

In the MARIA BATTAGLIA collection, elements borrowed from Corsica's natural landscapes are recurring motifs. These include the chestnut leaf, a Castagniccia tree, the Immortelle flower, endemic to Corsica, the Bonifacio coral and the Altore, the eagle that has made the island its sanctuary.
